ReaderxCursed Doll! England-- I'll Help You Pt 1
Your friend Alfred was having a yard sale. You wanted to get some new decorations for your recently repainted and refurbished living room, so you decided to stop by and check it out. You found a few pillows that would look nice on your new couch, a nice little mirror you thought would fit well over the fireplace, and a beautiful wooden end table.
You were digging through some old blankets he had out when something fell out of one and onto the driveway. You set down your things and picked it up.
It was a little doll and it was in terrible condition. The pale fabric for the skin was dulled and dirty and stained with God only knows what. The

You got very little sleep that night. You kept thinking about what you saw in your living room. Arthur's pained, disfigured face haunted your mind. He looked like he'd been suffering for years. You never wanted to see his face like that again.
After a total four hours of sleep, you dragged yourself out of bed, showered, and got a quick breakfast. Then you gently placed Arthur in your purse and headed out to the craft store.
You wandered the isles of the store with a basket at hand, trying to find what would be best for Arthur's needs. You pulled him out of your purse and held him in front of you, noting what needed fixing.
"Hmm…Hair" you t

"It's a long story, love."
"I have time." You said.
He returned his gaze to you. "It may be a little hard to believe."
You cocked an eyebrow and crossed your arms. "Arthur, honey, I just watched a doll I bought yesterday at a yard sale come to life in the middle of my living room."
"…Point taken."
He walked over and took a seat on your couch. You followed and sat next to him.
"Well" he began "I guess it all started a good two hundred years ago…
"I believe it was the year 1810, the height of industrialism in England where it all started. Back then, I was a middle class factory worker. I lived in a very nice home for the time; it was two

The next morning, you woke up on the couch, Arthur leaning against you in his doll form. You carefully picked him up and sat him in the arm chair by the fireplace before you went and showered and dressed. The whole time you kept thinking about the story Arthur told you about his life; something about it sounded familiar, like you've heard it somewhere before.
You shrugged it off, putting it at the back of your mind for the time being. You wanted to do something for Arthur. Even if you couldn't break the curse, you wanted to prove to Arthur that he would always have a home here. And what better way than to treat him like family?
"Arthur, I'm

The next morning, you woke up and immediately went to find Arthur. You found him, back to his doll form, lying in a puddle on the floor. You were surprised to find that the clothes you bought for him shrank down to a dolls size and were still on him, even his shoes shrunk down to fit on his stubby little feet.
On the counter by the sink there was note, written in elegant calligraphy, sitting on top of a pile of spotless dishes.
Dear _______,
It took me quite some time, but I finally managed to figure out how the water pump in your kitchen worked. I really must say, the modern world is a mysterious place indeed! The marvels that you have ne

For a short while after that day you were skittish around Arthur. That fact that you may have found the cure to his curse was a hard thing to keep sealed lips about. Arthur, who was naïve but far from stupid, of course noticed your strange behavior and confronted you about it. You had shivers running up your spine and had to tell more lies than a politician, but you managed to blame your behavior on a fake illness and made him believe it.
After a couple weeks things got back to normal…well as normal as normal could be with a cursed doll from the nineteenth century living in your house. You managed to push the fairy tale to the back of your m

"Come on, Arthur! It's a 15 minute drive to the restaurant! They won't hold the reservation forever!" You called from the couch.
"Sorry, _______!" He said, stumbling out of the bathroom "I was trying to put on this stupid thing!" He held up the red, velvet tie you had bought him. You smiled a bit as you stood up and walked over and took the tie from him. You skillfully looped the tie around his neck and in less than five seconds you had it sitting perfectly on his new suit. As you stepped back, you could have sworn you saw his face had a bit of red to it, but shrugged it off when it vanished after a moment.
After much convincing, you manage

FINAL CHAPTER
You pulled Arthur out of the restaurant and, totally ignoring your car, you led him to a nearby park a few blocks down the street. You refused to slow your pace after what had happened. You wanted to just run to the end of the earth to escape Alfred at this point. You had always known the American to be impulsive and hardheaded, but you would have never pinned him as the person to ruin an entire evening!
When you reached the park, you allowed yourself to slow to a gentle walk, a welcome relief to Arthur who was tripping over his feet the entire way. You looked at the clock on the church tower across the street. It was just aft
